In December 2011, LifeBUILDERS competed against 3 other community-based organizations nationally for a $25,000 grant from the Home Depot Foundation.  Our strong support from the Metro Detroit community secured our win!  Thank you to all who voted.  We are thrilled to be the recipients of this and look forward to using this money to strengthen our Detroit community.  We now have the opportunity to compete amongst 11 other organizations for the grand prize of a $250,000 grant from Home Depot Foundation in March.

Volunteers are always needed in all areas.  Our program size is restricted due to our current number of volunteers.  We believe we have the capacity with our existing facilities, our bus and van and our partnership with Chandler Park Academy to double the number of kids we minister to in the community.  Imagine that, our ministry to children in our community approaching 200 kids and hundreds of families.  “The harvest is plentiful, the workers are few” If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity please contact us here.

For the past 4 years we have been intentional in our commitment to reclaiming the neighborhood from crime, desolation, etc. in the name of the Lord Jesus and restoring it to bring hope to the lives of those in the community and affordable high quality housing to LifeBUILDERS families.

We have reclaimed and restored 9 properties providing 23 housing units and a community operated Resale Shop over the past 4 years and restored hope to a community on the verge of decline. It was heart warming this summer to see people out caring for their yards and neighborhood like never before and people saying “we were planning to move but now we are planning to stay, thank you LifeBUILDERS for what you are doing to Reclaim the Neighborhood from all the negative influences that were permeating our community”

We have just begun in this regard. Restoring and keeping up these properties is a huge job. We are always looking for good help as the way we keep our properties is a testimony of who we represent in the community and that is Christ the King.  Expansion in this area will be highly dependent on funding we receive going forward.

On August 2 we were graciously provided tickets by the Detroit Tigers to the Tiger-Texas Ranger game. Everybody had a great time and the Tigers won 6-5. Way to go Tigers and a big thank you to the Detroit Tigers.

We have a new family moving into our Cushing property within the next two weeks. We are so excited to have them with us. We still have a lot to do but we are confident that God will provide.
