Meet the founders...

Larry and Marilyn Johnson have been involved in serving the under-served in under resourced communities for over 15 years. When asked about the years prior to LifeBUILDERS, they are reminded how God can take the most unlikely, ill-suited people and use them for His purposes.

They still shake their heads when then they think of how God chose them for this work.

Once living the “good life”, the “American dream”, after a successful business career they were faced with a decision as to what to do with the rest of their lives.   Simply, they just made themselves available to serve.  They basically said “here we are Lord, use us”.

When asked to serve the brokenhearted, the downtrodden, those with little hope and few opportunities, those who suffered injustice and abuse for most of their lives they said “yes, Lord, we will go”...even to their own surprise!!  Their friends and family thought they were crazy.  A son, David, expressed that he thought they we “nuts” when they ultimately moved to the community they were led to serve, the big 48205, once designated as Detroit’s most deadly zip code. Read about it here

Today you will see a community on the rebound because of God’s favor and the hundreds of people who have served and given for years. Today there is hope and life. With a community center in development, the vision of Zechariah 8:4 is right around the corner.

"This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”

Maybe God is calling you?
